Beginning a new series on honoring God.
Subject: David’s Worship. 1 Chronicles 15:1-3, 14-16, 25-29. Teacher: Craig Kline
We honor God because we trust Him.
Why do we judge how others choose to worship God?
True worship can’t happen until there is true obedience.
We worship in offerings, by keeping our bodies pure and holy, by obeying God.
Worship Service. Minister: David Wenger. John 9:1-41
The blind man in John 9 had never seen his family, a sunset, or an ocean. However, spiritual blindness is much more devastating than physical blindness – and carries with it eternal consequences.
In that day the Jews believed disaster and problems were caused by sin – and prosperity or blessing were the result of a heart that was right with God.
Jesus told them simply and without drama that this man’s blindness was not caused by sin.
Interesting. The blind man did not ask to be healed, but Jesus noticed him and took time to perform a miracle in an unusual way.
Jesus made a mixture of mud with dirt and spit and put it on the man’s eyes. Not even mentioning that he was going to restore his sight – and told the man to go to the pool and wash the mud from his eyes.
The miracle increased the faith of the young man, but caused an uproar among the Jews to the point where the young man was cast out of their fellowship.
When Jesus learned about it and found the young man, He led him step by step to a deeper faith – from seeing Jesus as a prophet to seeing him as the Light of the World.
We are spiritually blind when we:
Take credit for things that belong to God.
Do not forgive.
Are not grateful.
Don’t see others with love and compassion.
We are spiritually alive when we:
Are completely convinced that Jesus is Lord
Have a song in our heart
Have a ready testimony
Are quick to ask forgiveness of God
Don’t carry grudges
Have a heart of joy and thankfulness
Have compassion for the lost
Allow the Holy Spirit to move instead of trying to manipulate Him.
Live in peace rather than in fear
Strive for unity
