The day after Amos and his crew cut down two of our large ash trees, a lumber truck came to pick up the largest logs.
Cerwin was fascinated that the mechanical “jaws/clamper” did not go around the logs, but gripped them as seen in this shot. He took the pictures, because I was not home at the time.
After getting our logs, the driver for Hickory Run Transport went to the yard behind us to get those logs.
Cerwin said the logs will go to a lumberyard and be used in construction.
We used to see many laden logging trucks like that in the mountains of Oregon and Washington. They’re a little scary on mountain roads, when you come around a corner to face one!
We remember that when we were on some mountain roads in the northwest.
Here in North Idaho, we call that kind of logging truck a self-loader.
Interesting. I don’t know much about logging or the equipment.
