This Gray Catbird was relaxing one morning – on one leg.
I turned on the patio light for better lighting – It changed its coloring a bit.
The mourning dove was searching for seed on the ground.
The hummingbird looked pretty in the evening sunshine.
I hadn’t seen a red-bellied Woodpecker for awhile.
I never tire of seeing the bird variety in our yard.
A wonderful series of bird photos — I particularly like the hummingbird shots!
The lighting was good for a picture.
Love the photos! But I wonder why is he called a red-bellied woodpecker when it’s his head that’s red, not his belly? 🙂
I wonder the same thing.
when red belly flies there is more red under his wings.
Ahh. That makes sense.
I think we are kindred spirits! This morning a pair of orioles came to my hummingbird feeder. I usually see them in the spring, but they don’t usually stay. I’m thinking if they are here mid-July they most likely are nesting in the ravine. Sure hope they bring the young ones to the oriole feeder I put out since that early morning sighting.
I rarely see an oriole, but would love to see one at our hummingbird feeder.
