By Monday morning (day after the wedding) the Maine and Tennessee people had gone home – except Diane – who stayed for an extra week. On Monday she and Anthony gathered tea to make tea “syrup” for our freezer and Abby’s.
Anthony enjoyed Doritos while Diane removed the leaves. She measures the tea, sugar and water and steeps it for 24 hours. Steeping it that long makes a strong tea that can be frozen. When making it to drink you add 3x as much water as tea.
By the end of the week she had picked all our tea! I don’t think I have ever had our tea bed emptied. I am glad to have it in our freezer instead of in the tea bed. It will taste good this fall and winter.
Something tells me the tea will grow back pretty quickly!
Like everything else is growing this summer. We are having lots of rain, mixed with warm, sunny days.
Well, now I understand. What a great idea. Thank you 🙂
Tea? Are they mint leaves?
Yes, it is a mint tea. I have a peppermint and a spearmint.
I just bought a spearmint plant on closeout, but I am thinking it is peppermint that I wanted.
You will like spearmint too – I expect.
