Yesterday, when I went to the mailbox in the early morning, I thought, “Wow, with this humidity there have to be mushrooms in our yard.” Sure enough I found a great variety.
I am not a connoisseur of mushrooms, so I never learned which are edible and which are not.
They tell me that this one (which grows near oak trees) is edible and one of the best, but I am not brave enough to try it. This one looked brand new, so it would probably be delicious.
I think it is called “chicken of the woods.”
The following are the other varieties that I found on our acre of land – and if I searched thoroughly, I probably could have found more.
That was a fun thing to do on a hot, humid morning.
I, too, saw some mushrooms in our green space yesterday — will try to get photos today if they haven’t been removed already! I love the second type you showed above — it looks like a little pine cone! I’m not sure I’d try to eat it, though, without expert review!
I look forward to seeing your mushrooms.
