Saturday Morning with Hans and Anneke

March 30

We had a relaxing morning with nothing planned, so Hans asked if we could go to the closest truck stop. He wanted to see more trucks. 🙂

While everyone got ready, I went outside to find a few more signs of spring.

Hyacinth

Because daffodils tend to hang and look at the ground, I had to get real low to get a few shots.

Then we were on our way to the Flying J at Frystown – again driving through some Amish country in Lebanon County.

It was a nice day, so some farmers were busy in the fields.

There were a few families on the road – perhaps going for groceries.

Our first sight of the truck stop. See the top of the TFC chapel in the center? I wrote TFC chapel above it.

Hans had a good time walking around the lot and videoing trucks. Anneke and I went inside the truck stop store where she found some t-shirts for their girls.

I saw that Auntie Anne’s Pretzels and Cinnabon offered samples, so got some for the four of us. Hans preferred the pretzels, so I bought a cup of hot pretzel nuggets.

We still had time for more trucks, so drove through four trucking company lots – Lanita, Dutch Valley Food Distributors, Rigid Ply Rafters, and Cupboard Wagon. Saturday is a good day to do that as most of the trucks are on their lots.

After Hans had his fill of trucks, we went home through Middle Creek Wildlife Sanctuary. We knew the thousands of snow geese had moved north, but you never know what you might see there. We did see a few dozen Snow Geese and several Canada Geese.

This hawk was just above us on a tree. I think it is a Red-tailed Hawk, but the Sharp-shinned and Cooper’s Hawk have similar markings – depending on their age.

If you know it’s identity, let me know.

Anneke is a head nurse in a nursing home, and wanted to see an American pharmacy. We took her to CVS in Lititz where she was amazed at the many choices we have.

Following a light lunch and an hour or so of relaxation, we got ready for TFC’s Dinner Concert at Yoder’s Restaurant. I will tell you about that tomorrow.
