Friday Evening, March 15
For those who do not live in our area, LCBC is a large church with initials that mean Lives Changed By Christ.
Our grandson Jesse trying out the Slingshot that was parked at the entrance door.
A display by Kanati Elite Taxidermy Studio. This beautiful sable took me back to our safari in South Africa a year ago.
There were a variety of vendors, food, and beverage stations as we walked through the building.
Jared and Jere talking to the men at Lightshine Ministries Alaska.
Inside the auditorium – the stage
Jere taking a picture of his three youngest boys – Jared, Jesse, and Ian. Jeff, his boys, and some of their friends were right behind us. You can see Jordan just behind Jere.
A band from the church opened with several songs.
Introducing the speaker – David Blanton.
David’s bio from the internet: Since his employment began in 1991 David Blanton has been an integral part of Realtree’s growth into becoming the leader in camouflage for hunters worldwide. Blanton is Executive Producer and host of Realtree Outdoors and Realtree RoadTrips on Outdoor Channel and Monster Bucks TV on Sportsman’s Channel as well as overseeing the production of the best-selling deer hunting DVDs of all time, Monster Bucks. And while David has earned a reputation throughout the hunting industry as someone who knows the ins and outs of filming and harvesting big game across North America, he is most passionate about his journey, through victories and defeats, to develop a closer walk with God and how God continues to use the platform of hunting as a stage to allow him to speak to outdoorsmen across the country. David’s transparency about his struggles to keep his priorities in order and his ability to relate to audiences of all demographics, sometimes in a humorous way, makes him a favorite on the speaking tour.
It was interesting to see him in person since we have watched him on hunting shows on TV for many years.
He told us how his job at Realtree became his “god” causing his family relationships to suffer. He told about a bad experience on a Canadian moose hunt that changed his life and caused him to turn back to God and care for and love his family.
After he finished, a church member gave away many great hunting and sportsman prizes to those with winning tickets – even an ATV from a local shop. (There were not any winners in our group.)
