Our first visit was on Saturday evening when we went to Lancaster General to visit our brother-in-law Marlin Becker in ICU, who is having a variety of tests – concerning heart, kidney, and gall bladder issues.
I received a message from our niece, Karen Dull, a few minutes ago that he was having a heart catheterization as she was messaging me. Update: They are recommending open heart surgery. Nancy will meet with the doctors tomorrow morning.
The entrance area to Lancaster General has a beautiful poinsettia tree. I wish that I had my camera along, but you get the idea with a cell phone picture.
It is potted poinsettias stacked in the shape of a tree.
We enjoyed meeting mutual friends (Buddy Brown’s) who were visiting Marlin when we arrived. They know us from TFC’s Truck Rally (they haul animals) and Marlin and Nancy from New Holland Sales Stables. They didn’t realize that Nancy and I are sisters. 🙂
On Sunday afternoon we drove a bit farther – to Grand View Hospital in Sellersville – to visit our good friend Sam Rittenhouse who is hospitalized for pneumonia.
He was in ICCU most of the week and had a tough few days – especially on Tuesday when his lungs were filled with pneumonia. He said that it was so difficult to breathe that he was ready to go “Home” to the Lord.
The Lord brought him through and he is now in a regular room, recovering and beginning to enjoy a liquid diet. That may have been changed to a soft diet today, because his son, John, just posted that his dad could go home tomorrow.
I understand that home will be at his daughter Debbie and son-in-law Lanny’s house until he regains enough strength to live alone.
This hospital entrance area was also beautifully decorated for the Christmas holiday.
Included in the beauty was a player piano playing Christmas carols.
