While we were in Florida last week, Diane took Josiah to two of his surgeons – orthopedic and skin graft. Both were pleased with his progress. The biggest change for Josiah is that his orthopedic surgeon said he may now put full weight on his right leg. His right side took the brunt of his crash into a telephone pole – fracturing his wrist, pelvis, and femur.
He had his first (out of house) therapy session the other day. One thing he was asked to do to strengthen his leg is to go up and down steps.
I don’t know if his therapist meant that he should start with an entire flight of steps, but that is what he did when he came downstairs to my office to get an envelope. 🙂
Of course, he then had to return to the top. It is good to see him walking with a cane instead of a walker.
He has come a long way in three months. This picture of Josiah and Cerwin is from our first visit with him a few days after his September 14 motorcycle accident.
When we learned that it might be two or three months before he could walk, it seemed like a long time – but three months have gone rather quickly. I am sure some of the days seemed long to him.
This evening he received a fruit basket from our church.
It is much easier to take him away these days – with only a cane – instead of a wheel chair and walker. 🙂
We praise the Lord for creating bodies that heal and doctors with wisdom to fix broken bones and severe wounds.
Three months does seem like a long time, but what progress has been made in that time! I’m glad you have a safe fight of stairs for Josiah to walk up and down!
We agree. It is good to see progress.
I have followed you for about 10 years starting with my first year of retirement from teaching second grade. Thank you for your faithful posts. It has been a joy watching your family grow.
Wow! It’s encouraging to read your note. Thanks.
