We saw the first signs of snow about 10:30 am.
I tried to get some of the fine snowflakes, but they were too scattered to show up in the early pictures.
The flakes slowly gathered on the leaves.
Everything looked quite different one hour later.
The boys were supposed to get out of school early, but the snow caused more of a problem than predicted. Ian called us shortly after 12:30 and asked if we could come get him because they weren’t sending school buses due to the dangerous roads.
I called middle school to see if the situation was the same there. It was. It was a crazy afternoon as many motorists got caught in the snow. Cerwin had to go with Plan B on his way to the school, but eventually got there, went to the office at each school and brought all three boys home.
The students whose parents (or grandparents) couldn’t pick them up had to wait a few hours – until the local police said the roads were safe for the buses.
Ian knew that Grandpa was coming for him, but Jared and Jesse don’t have cell phones – and were quite surprised to hear their names called over the public address system – saying someone was there to pick them up.
It was nice to have everyone safely inside our doors while it continued to snow outdoors. We ended up with six or seven inches of the pretty white stuff.
We’ve had snow showers, but not really any accumulation yet. Good thing Grandpa had a Plan B. It’s a good feeling when everyone is safely home.
The boys were certainly glad to see him – and I was glad to see everyone when they got home.
That’s a lot of snow in a short time! Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving to you as well.
