Sunday, September 16
Following the bluegrass concert on Saturday, we stayed at Sam Rittenhouse’s house over night – to attend Biker Sunday. One of my favorite things to do at Sam’s place is walk through his garden and orchard before breakfast.
He said, with all the rain this summer, your will probably find some weeds. That doesn’t bother me. There are weeds at our place this summer too.
It is the end of season, but there was still lots of beauty in his backyard.
Some of these will probably go into cider.
It is difficult for me to stop taking pictures and go inside for breakfast.
Wow! That’s quite a garden!
He is an amazing gardener – and he is 88 years old. Some of his children and grandchildren help with harvest.
Beautiful photos! Brought back memories of the fun we had when we went there as a group to help mulch. Those figs look yummy!
Thanks…and I didn’t even taste a fig. I did eat a grape. 🙂
So beautiful. I wondered what the purple things were, but Inge said they are figs.
Yes, I enjoy seeing his figs, because it is the only place I see them.
What a wonderful garden, full of flowers and the abundance of fruit! What are the spikiy things just below the boxed apples? And the one red fruit just below the figs?
I don’t know what they are. Sam would if he sees your question. The red fruit is a “berry” on a unique kind of dogwood tree.
