Wednesday Morning, August 22
Our niece, Karen, came to me after church the other week and told me that I may enjoy seeing what is happening to the inside of the original part of the Hershey Homestead – where my siblings and I and many of my ancestors grew up.
Our nephew and his fiancée are stripping the house of everything that has been added during the years and taking it down to the original construction material as they prepare to move in after their wedding next spring.
It was interesting to see how the house was built in 1819.
This was my favorite room! I think they must have used all the leftovers here. 🙂
There was a date of 1819 in the cellar and 1821 in the attic, so it appears that it took them two years to build it.
It will be fun to see what Travis and Stephanie do with this part of the farmhouse.
