Sunday Evening, August 19
How did we get to this age so quickly where both brothers are now retired – kind of. 🙂
Elvin sold his construction business at the end of July – but will help the new owner when necessary – and Cerwin retired from trucking in 2006, but continues to serve with Transport For Christ when needed and drives for DHIA picking up milk, blood, and forage samples each Monday morning and other mornings – when needed – if it suits him.
Our grandson Josiah (center) came to visit us and his mom, just before we left for the party and enjoyed going along. Most of the men visited outside under the gazebo – due to the afternoon drizzle.
Elvin and Pat’s children Ted (second from right), his wife Denise (right), Bryan (see last picture), and Crystal (center) prepared the food in Jakey and Crystal’s kitchen.
It was a special treat for our Maine daughter (Diane) to have this opportunity to be with Elvin and Pat’s family. Diane is spending two weeks with us so she can attend two family weddings.
I did not get a photograph of the main part of the meal – hamburgers and hot dogs – which were grilled by Jakey.
The drizzle stopped a bit during the afternoon. Elvin and Pat’s son Bryan is on the far right. Sorry Jakey, I missed getting a picture of you grilling our supper.
I just had a conversation with another friend about the fact that we don’t feel as if we are aging as quickly as everybody else (triggered by Neil Simon’s death at 91!). How nice to have Diane with you for two weeks, and I’m sure she’s having a good time with all the weddings and family events!
I agree about the aging process. However, we have felt kind of old at the last two weddings as almost everyone was younger than us – especially at Nate and Lauree’s wedding. It had been fun for Diane and me to spend time together. We will be taking her home on Thursday.
