Wednesday Morning, March 7
A tour of camp – continued from yesterday.
The garage
This building – behind the house – is the laundry, butcher shop, and woodshop.

This building – behind the laundry/butcher shop/woodshop – is where Nelson, Steffy, Victor, and Fisana live when they are on duty. Each person has a room. The ladies share a bathroom. The men share another bathroom. They all share a common kitchen/dining area.
Walking back toward the house
Some of Kate’s beautiful plants.
I found Kristen writing in her journal when I got back to the outside dining/seating area.
Kate heard from the guys that some of their giraffe herd were close to the back yard so we went on safari. 🙂
As I said before, it is fun to watch giraffes because they are so curious.
There were times when my view of the herd was blocked by a very curious Jethro. Kristen tried to stay to the right side of the window, but Jethro didn’t care about my view. 🙂 Kate tried to call him away from the window, but I said, “Wait. I want a picture of this for my memory.”
Oh, that was fun!
Back at the house, Kate took orders for breakfast eggs.
By the face markings, I think this is Jethro – hoping that he will also get a treat from the breakfast buffet.

After the men came for breakfast sandwiches, Josh chose to stay here – feeling that it was not necessary for him to be along to look for the warthog that Jared shot. Jesse talked him into swimming.
Urging Jethro to jump into the pool took some effort by both boys.
Finally he jumped! He would rather play and splash along the edge.
Good news! They found Jared’s warthog.
They certainly are not beautiful creatures. But Jared was going for a cheap hunt – not beauty. 🙂
Victor explaining something to Kristen
Victor and Nelson did the butchering.
A pork supper coming up.
After two entries – this finally ended our adventurous, interesting morning.

Our afternoon coming up in the next post.
My goodness what a wonderful morning! I’m glad they found Jared’s warthog — somebody must have known it would run towards water. And the giraffes are wonderful — curious in many senses. I can almost hear the conversation between them about who those strangers might be this time! What a wonderful experience!
Oh, good — my comment worked this time! I assume the workers are only there when there are guests at the camp. Do they have guests year round, or just once in a while?
Yes, I am glad your comments are working again. Nelson and Steffy are always there – at least during the week Victor and Fisana are only there when they have guests. They have guest about 7 months out of the year. I think they are full this year from mid-April until November. We were a bit early, but it worked out nice for us.
That timing did work well for you — and you saw a lot of animals! From some of your photos, it looked as if your group filled the place — is that right, or just an illusion? I imagine it must be pretty exhausting, either way to have guests for 6 months on end!
What wonderful pictures and what a wonderful adventure you experienced!
It was as amazing as it appears. 🙂
I appreciate your sharing your adventures with the rest of us! Arm-chair travel can be interesting, too. 🙂
