Flowers from our yard
Our birthdays are in February, and it was my turn to host the meal. I felt like a picnic this year and that doesn’t work in February.
I would have loved to take these tables out under a tree – like you see in magazines at times – but that looked like too much work so we set the tables up just inside the garage doors. Then opened the garage doors.
It was a fun way to have a picnic.
Around the table: Marcy, Mark, Gene, Emma Jean (Cookie to us), Gerald, and Cerwin.
I am sure this is a day when Gerald acutely misses his wife, Joanne, who died several years ago. Joanne, Marcy, Cookie, and I all have birthdays in February and have been friends since our early adulthood.
I’ve known Marcy and Joanne since high school. Cookie and Gene joined us when our children were small. My parents and Mark and Gerald’s parents were good friends, so I don’t remember not knowing them.
Another pretty cake from Cake & Cup Bake Shoppe in Lititz. My favorite – a white cake with raspberry filling.
That’s a perfect way to have a picnic! And the cake is beautiful — they do a good job.
Their cakes are also delicious. 🙂
