Saturday Afternoon and Evening, June 3 – continued
I walked around the church – from the Service Community – to the children’s activities.
This kiddie pool was filled with corn.
Little kiddies miniature golf
Corn Hole competition
Walking down the hill to the chapel
The children’s train came down the hill behind me.
The petting zoo
Then it was back to the chapel to prepare for visitors.
The guests started arriving shortly after 5 pm.
Each ministry had a stamp – and if guests filled their paper with ministry stamps they received a prize. That was new and caused us to be quite busy.
I was inside the chapel with non-stop visitors.
This woman told me that she was saved on a chapel like this – at a street fair in Mechanicsburg when she was ten years old. We remember being there and think one of our volunteer chaplains probably talked to her.
People who have never seen inside a chapel are always surprised when they step inside.
We hear, “Oh, wow!” many times when we are at churches and truck shows.
By the end of the evening I felt like I had traveled around the world. This man was from Russia and because of his poor English used his smart phone. When he typed his question or comment in Russian it immediately translated into English. When I answered in English it immediately translated into Russian for him.
There were also several visitors from Africa and Cambodia. Cerwin thought we probably had 100 visitors.
The evening ended with singing – and releasing Japanese lanterns on the hillside next to – and in the grave yard.
It was a busy, beautiful evening.
What a successful launch! The sky lanterns are new to me — I remember seeing other posts of yours with them, but that’s the only place I’ve seen them. Perhaps the fire danger is what keeps them from being popular here.
Fire danger could be a possibility that you don’t see them there.
