Sunday Evening, October 16
When we learned that our soon-to-be-grandson-in-law was speaking at the Maine Ministry meeting at Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren in York County, it didn’t take us long to decide to travel the one-hour-plus drive to hear him.
The evening sky was cloudy and beautiful as the sun was setting.
It was fun seeing the surprise on Nsimba’s face when he saw us. He did not know we were coming.He was introduced to the audience by Dennis Myer from Lewiston Church of the Brethren..
He told us a variety of interesting stories from his childhood in Africa, his decision to follow Christ, his journey to the United States – and eventually the Church of the Brethren in Lewiston, Maine.
Lots of people took time to ask him questions after the service.
~~~
The next time we see him, it will be his and Elizabeth’s wedding weekend in mid-November.
My goodness the cloud were spectacular there that night! How nice that you got to hear Nsimba speak.
They were. I agree.
Which African country is he from? He probably speaks several different languages. I think my mother was born in Lewiston, Maine. Quite a different climate than Africa.
The Congo. He told me which Congo, but I have forgotten. :). Yes, he speaks several languages: French, Portuguese, and an African language or two.
I was wrong about my mom’s birthplace. As I was looking through her papers, I saw she was born in Augusta. Lewiston is such a familiar name though, that I think some of her relatives must have lived there at one time. Her mother was one of 13 children. They were from N.B. Canada. A lot of the McCreas ended up in Maine.
Interesting.
