Adopted!

Thursday, August 11 We were here for the adoption of our great-nephew who has been with our niece Judi and her husband, Reuben, for most of his two years of life. We didn’t know exactly where we were going, so we arrived early – as did some of the others. After finding the courthouse we took […]

Wednesday, August 10 Reuben and Judi (our niece) were in the area for the adoption of their little guy, so Jere and Kristen invited them and us for supper. Colt and their little miss were fascinated with each other – as long as they were on opposite sides of the door. 🙂 Little miss fell […]

Wednesday, August 10 Since Jere and Kristen’s youngest three were with us for the week, I set aside this day to take them swimming. Jana and Gloria were thinking about going along, but Gloria had to work and Jana didn’t feel like going without her. Jared Ian Jesse That’s close to walking on water. 🙂 I […]

Tuesday, August 9 Inside the Visitors Center This place was full when we arrived at 10 AM (when it opens) – with 4 or 5 busloads of people. We thought we may have long waiting lines. When we were given instructions for getting tickets, she said they opened early for these buses – and they were […]

Breakfast Before Visiting Penn’s Cave

Tuesday, August 9 Jere and Kristen invited us to go along with their family to Penn’s Cave more than a year ago, but that was when Jana was having a lot of trouble with nausea and we came home after breakfast. We went back to the same Cracker Barrel and celebrated that Jana is doing well […]

Monday, August 8 This is what used to be Cousins’ Week at our house – but it seems that everyone has grown up, gotten married, or have jobs, so we are down to the youngest three grandchildren and are now having Brothers’ Week. 🙂 Chuck E Cheese’s was their choice for Monday. While they used tokens and gathered tickets, […]

Busy Weekend

| Amish, Food

Our Amish friends the Smucker’s came to visit on Saturday. We planned to eat and visit at the pavilion, but there was a period between noon and 3 pm when thunderstorms were predicted, so we prepared the garage for seating 46 people for lunch. A storm never did arrive, but it worked out nice to […]

August Flowers

We redid this flowerbed earlier this year and I am still enjoying the newness of it – after having been used to bushes that were planted 48 years ago. I also added a few potted flowers – something that rarely works for me because I forget to water them. I was determined to take care of […]

Friday evening, August 5 Our grandson Jordan was refreshing his pitching skills when we arrived. Their usual pitcher – his brother-in-law Dustan – was on call at work and had to go somewhere toward Philadelphia. Jordan said that he hadn’t pitched for awhile. Then he showed his mom how to use his apparatus to keep […]

It’s the time of year when we are closed in with corn fields – and I love it. I have a better view from our patio than from the previous one which was from our yard. The past two weeks have been a great mix for growing corn – heat and rain. This is what […]

The last week of July ~~~ July 22 I’d rather see a hummingbird. Hey, squirrel that is my chair. It is so warm these days that the suet is melting. ~~~ July 25 A rain like this in summertime makes farmers smile. It also makes our flowers smile. The sun is shinning and it’s still […]

Saturday, July 23 Cerwin and Chaplain Jake took the chapel and Jake’s Marmon to the speedway on Friday so they could park at our designated spot – just inside the gate. The organizers gave us the best spot on the grounds. We enjoyed watching arriving trucks. The view behind my chair and under the chapel. Our view of arriving […]

My husband, Cerwin, and I have four children, seventeen grandchildren (2 are in Heaven), and 19 great grandchildren. Cerwin spent 40 years as a truck driver for Ferrellgas. We are both retired from serving with Transport For Christ - a ministry to truck drivers - and love our life in rural Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
