This is kind of the second day to our Hershey Family Spring Celebration.
Before cleanup
Jeff and Cerwin discuss the plan for burning the big trash pile – with all the winter and spring trash. The biggest problem – it was wet from an evening rain the day before.
I usually do a lot of the weed eating, and I did work on the area around the pavilion so it was finished before people began arriving, then Ian took over for me, and my brother Dale did his usual section
There were lots of leaves.

Because the leaves were wet, Jeff came up with a plan to keep the fire going – and because the center was burning and the wet leaves were piled around the outside it soon looked like a volcano.
This was a perfect plan. Soon the outside leaves dried and by the end of the day most of the leaves were burned.

Time for lunch
It’s nice to have this area ready for the summer.
The reason we all do this together is that the pavilion is a family project where any one of us can have a picnic or celebration.
And because there is enough work for everybody to pitch in and help!!! It looks like a great work day! We wouldn’t be able to do a bonfire here — it’s too dry!
There are times of the year that we couldn’t do a bonfire either, but it has been very damp this spring.
goes so much more quickly to have that much help ~ wonderful!
…and we had a lot of help this year.
