One of my favorite things about the arrival of May is: I see birds that aren’t usually at our feeders.
Remember this picture of a male rose-breasted Grosbeak from several days ago?
This is his mate – the female.
She is pretty in her own way, but not as brilliant as the male.
This is another bird I rarely see – a Red-headed Woodpecker.
It was fun to watch him for awhile.
This is one I see almost every day, but she was posing quite nicely on a bush outside our kitchen window.
Doris — your photos are beautiful! I feel as if I could reach out and touch the soft feathers of the grosbeak and of the woodpecker! And the lady cardinal is just as pretty! What lovely feathered friends you have!
Thank you. 🙂
Beautiful.
I agree.
