Saturday, January 9
We were pleased that Saturday, January 9, was an open day in our schedule so we could attend the Celebration of Life service for our friend Tish Jones at Davisville Church, Southampton, PA (near Philadelphia).
I took two pictures of slides that were scrolling on the screen. Tish is on the right.
We have known Tish and her husband, Howard, (right) since the 1970’s when they began serving with TFC.
Jose Young (a talented soloist) sang, “Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone) and “It is Well with My Soul.”
We thoroughly enjoyed the memories that were shared by five of their six children. Steve lives in Montana and was unable to attend.
Howie and his wife
Beverly and her husband
Esther and her husband
Mark and his wife
Marcia and her husband
We concluded that Tish was a strict and caring mother.
There were also many testimonies from the audience – telling of her dedication to God, her family, and their church and friends.
Howard and Tish have served Transport For Christ in many ways – first when Howard was a staff chaplain, then after he retired, he accepted the responsibility of interim president and Tish served in the International Office. When they retired from that responsibility, he became a volunteer chaplain on our chapel at the Petro (now Flying J) Travel Plaza near Elkton, Maryland.
He stopped serving on the chapel in Elkton several years ago when Tish needed his help.
We will miss her and pray that God will grant grace and peace to Howard and his family.
I’m sorry to hear of your friend’s passing. When I saw the first picture in your post it brought back memories of visiting that church several years ago when our daughter lived in Southampton while attended college in Langhorne, PA.
Interesting that you visited that church.
I am sorry for your loss but the Celebration of Her life looked very nice.
Her children greatly honored her. Yes it was a nice Celebration of Life.
