Opening devotions on Saturday morning with Glenn Martin.
This hand-carved robin brought $2,100.00.
The titmouse sold for $1,750.00
One of the auctioneers noticed Jolenne Haller knitting hats as she watched the auction, and asked what she does with the hats. She said, “I give them away.”
He asked for one, and “passed the hat” for an offering toward the auction. Then they sold the hat.
If I remember correctly, the offering and sale of the hat totaled $1,000.00.
A painting of Merkey’s Church of the Brethren.
Mr. Merkey explained a bit of history on the church and how he received the painting.
That is the end of the 2015 Brethren Disaster Relief Auction pictures.
Such a wonderful auction! Do you know how much it raises each year? I love that they added the knitted hat into the mix so spontaneously!
I did not see an amount for 2015. I saw a figure of $423,000.00 for 2014. I also liked the knitted hat offering and auction.
Thanks for posting the pictures Doris Jean! We are at the auction all day for 3 days but never get very far away from our area to see all the things going on in other places, so we really enjoy seeing the pictures. At last count after the 2 days of the Relief Auction we raised about $405,000.00 this year and they expect the total to be about the same as 2014 since money keeps coming in for several weeks after the auction is over.
Thanks, Charlene.
