May 10 – Mother’s Day
We visited her after the Lancaster Make-A-Wish Convoy so Ian was with us.
Since Mother has been walking as far as possible when we go to the Café, Ian decided to follow her with the wheel chair.
When she was ready for the wheel chair, he pushed her and Cerwin pushed her walker.
When we were finished eating, Ian asked to push me back to Mother’s room in her walker.
We had lots of fun, and when we came to a group of people walking through the hall, they didn’t even smile or give us a second look. I guess they thought I lived here. 🙂

We usually pray with Mother before we leave, and she loved it when Ian prayed for her.

As we were leaving, we noticed a mother Mallard and her babies in one of the courtyards.
That looks like a wonderfully fun visit with Cerwin’s mother! For a while in the winter I was thinking I should invest in a walker like that — but physical therapy cleared up the problem for the time being! I hope I don’t have to use one for a long time! How cute the ducks and ducklings, and how nice to have them in the courtyard!
Mother loves her walker. There is room for storage under the seat, and she can sit on it if necessary. We are so pleased that she began walking again. There were a few months when the nurses even put her in the wheelchair to go to the bathroom.
I’m SO glad that Cerwin’s mom is walking again! Even if she can’t go all the way to the dining room, the exercise will do wonders — and it must give her a feeling of some independence, too! That’s great!
Don’t know as I have every seen mallard babies ~ adorable!
There are mamma mallards in almost ever courtyard at Landis Homes. I expect the people in maintenance have to eventually remove them, because it will be a long time before the babies can fly out over the building.
