Friday, February 6
I needed a day away from winter’s cold, and a busy, rather stressful few days.
I had a $25.00 “birthday” gift certificate from the owner of this nail salon, and asked our daughter Deb (above) when she had her next appointment.
We planned to go on Thursday, but because of snow, changed the appointment to Friday.
It felt good to be in a warm place and get a fabulous pedicure and manicure. They weren’t busy, so my manicurist went beyond the call of duty in pampering me.
After the pampering we walked to our favorite Japanese Restaurant – just a few doors away.
We shared a “Sassy Lady” appetizer.
The green paste is wasabi. From the Internet: Wasabi is a spice traditionally prepared from a plant from the cabbage family. Its root is used as a spice and has a very strong flavor. The root is smashed up into paste and used as a condiment. Its hotness is more like hot mustard or horseradish than chili pepper, because it irritates the nose more than the tongue. I agree with that. I tried only a very small taste.
To the right of the wasabi is ginger. It is good for the palette in preparation for the main meal.
The inside of the Sassy Lady. There is sticky rice, seaweed, tuna, mango, and a few other things.
We also shared this dish of Hibachi Chicken.
A dip for the rice and chicken.
For dessert we shared a crème brulee.
It was so much fun to relax and talk and laugh in an oriental atmosphere.
How nice to distress occasionally. The Japanese food looks delightful!
Agree.
What a lovely day you and Deb had!! I LOVE Japanese and we were blessed to take my Dad, for his 90th Birthday to Benhanni and it was beyond delicious! Thanks for sharing you fun and day of deserved pampering!
You are welcome. I love being pampered in winter.
Not sure if I would care for that appetizer, but the rest looks yummy! 🙂
It was my favorite party of the meal.
