Sunday Evening, December 21
Inge had this picture of Timothy on her blog, http://iekohen.blogspot.com/, yesterday announcing his death.
She knew this was going to happen – sooner rather than later – and called us several days ago, asking if we still had a burial spot for him.
We assured her we did.
Yesterday was the day when she had to say goodbye to him and brought her friend Nancy along.
We checked a few spots before settling on this area. We have many trees in our yard, so had to find a root-free area, and I wanted a place where she can plant daffodil bulbs.
We don’t have house pets, but I can only imagine how difficult it is to say goodbye to a pet who has been your friend for many years.

She got Timothy and Barnabas as small kittens. I don’t have any pictures of them as kittens, but knew I had some from the evening we were invited to her house for a Brazilian supper in 2006, so looked through my old files.
What a beautiful tribute to Timothy – a well loved cat and friend. Another interesting thing is their names… Not from the Biblical Timothy and Barnabas but from Father Tim and Barnabas his DOG in the Mitford books by Jan Karan.
I did not know that. I thought their names were from the Bible – but I never asked.
I had just read “At Home in Mitford” about Father Tim “being adopted by” a hyper dog he called Barnabas. When I picked them up at that farm, the runt of the litter was so hyper, I could barely get a good look at him – and it occurred to me that he was as hyper as Father Tim’s dog, so Barnabas he became. I had to find something to “go with” Barnabas…the Barnabas in the book belonged to Father Timothy…so that’s how it happened. But I dropped the “father” off the name… 🙂
Interesting.
Inge, sentimos muito! Mas você salvou a vida dele e foi muito amado e querido! Mana Priscila
