Jesse & Me ~ Visiting Cerwin’s Mother

Saturday, November 15

This was a special day for Jesse and me.

Jere and Kristen took Jana to CHOP for more tests for her AVM, and since it was Saturday, they took Ian and Jared along so they can learn about the hospital where she is having tests and treatment. To see updates on Jana go to: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/janahigh

Cerwin is hunting in Kentucky.

Jesse and I went to Pleasant View Retirement Community to visit Mother High and have lunch with her.

1 (1)This wonderful nurse encouraged Jesse to push his great-grandma to the rehab dining room.

1 (2)Jesse wasn’t sure he could do it, but she assured him that she would stay close and help him if necessary.

1aI took this picture with my cell phone – to send to his parents, sister, and brothers in Philadelphia, his grandpa in Kentucky, and a few other people.

1bI wanted to give Mother a tour of the home, as it is good for her to get her out of her room. At this point I gave Jesse the camera and asked him to take a picture of us.

It was the last time I held the camera for awhile. 🙂

He took 275 pictures during our half-hour-walk.

I chose a few of the best.

2 (1)Crossing the “bridge” to another part of the home.

2 (2)Jesse was fascinated by some of the decorations in the independent living area.

2 (7)He asked me to stop. He wanted to take a picture of me in the mirror. The flash made it look a bit foggy. I think I like foggy.

2 (8)I showed him how to take a picture in a mirror by turning the flash off.

2 (9)Then he became fascinated with pictures on the wall.

2 (11)He took this one for his dad.

2 (13)The Courtyard Café is where Jesse and I bought our lunch. It is next to the rehab dining room. He was happy they had hotdogs today.

2 (12)The goldfish pond in the courtyard near Mother’s room.

2 (14)Another picture of the courtyard. I think the window on the bottom right is Mother’s room.

2 (15)There is a train set in the courtyard, but we have not yet seeing it run.

2 (16)Going by the nurse’s station.

3Mother’s room

4 (1)A few of the get well cards on her window sill.

4 (2)I like this picture.

4 (3)Mother’s bulletin board. It includes drawings by two great-granddaughters, The weekly schedule for her area of the home, and a few pictures of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.

4 (4)Her bed

4 (5)Another picture of her room.

4 (6)The guest book area near the entrance/exit door.

Great pictures Jesse. It was fun spending the day with you.

~~~
A funny thing happened just after he took this picture. I taught Jesse the code for opening the door, and unknown to me, he opened the door while I talked to an employee. Because Jesse stood in the doorway, holding the door open, an alarm went off – bringing a few people running toward us. They just smiled and turned off the alarm when they saw the “culprit.”
