She has been ill since late August – throwing up most of what she eats. She has had almost every test possible for her digestive system. Each has been negative.
At the request of one specialist, an MRI was ordered, and on Wednesday, November 5, we learned that it revealed a mass in her brain called Arteriovenous Malformations. It is not a malignant mass, but comes with a variety of possible complications.
Jere, Kristen, and Jana have an appointment at CHOP (Children’s Hospital Of Philadelphia) on Monday to see what kind of treatment will be needed. If Jere and Kristen and the specialist want a second opinion, the specialist has lined up another appointment at Johns Hopkins in early December.
It feels like the air has been sucked out of our body. However, God has been incredibly close to us the past few days, especially during an anointing service by two of our ministers last night – at Jere and Kristen’s house.
It is our desire that God will be honored and glorified during this journey.
If you are interested in a detailed account of this journey go to the CaringBridge site that Kristen started this morning: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/janahigh
Will be praying for your granddaughter. My niece had an AV malformation on her brain which caused seizures. She had surgery to correct it and is fine now. (A 2nd opinion is never a bad thing.)
Thank you! We are praising God that Jana’s malformation was discovered before a seizure, stroke, or blood-bleed. I am hearing and reading that it is a bit unusual to discover the malformation before either of those happen.
God is “still” good! He is faithful! We will pray for all of you!
Thank you!
Praying that the doctors will be able to give her the right treatment. Better yet, That God will miraculously heal her!
Thank you! Thank you!
I read this and Kristen’s summary with tears running down my face! I feel like I know Jana through your blogs, and she has always seemed like a delightful girl, spunky and caring, and it’s so sad that she has to go through all of this. I’m glad it was identified before causing more serious complications, and hope it will solve the digestive issues as well. I’m glad she’s at least able to eat at this point, to keep up her strength. My best wishes to Jana, and to your whole family as you go through what is to come!
Thank you! Thank you! I told Kristen last night that I KNOW that I will hear from you. 🙂
Interestingly, I’ve been thinking of Kristen recently, and wondering where her travels might have taken her. Hugs to you both!
I forwarded your note to them – and noticed that you commented on their Caring Bridge.
Thank you! I’ll watch for updates both here and on Caring Bridge!
Awww ~ so very sorry ~ praying all will be well soon. Hugs to you.
Thank you! Thank you!
I have tears in my eyes, as I have been reading your blog for so many years I feel like I know you in some small way….Doris, I will be praying for this very real trial and I know that our Father will give you grace and beauty through it all. Praying for complete healing for Jana. You are loved, dear friend.
Thank you so much Shanda.
Doris — I will certainly be praying for Jana, you, and her family in the days ahead. We serve a God of miracles (we have one!) and I pray that Jana will be relieved of this soon without complications. God bless you and your family as you walk this journey. I read the blog Kristen started and will keep up with you and her writing in the days ahead.
Thank you! Thank you for praying.
