Saturday Evening, October 18
Nan and her decorators make this one of the prettiest banquets we attend.
Chaplain Jay welcomed everyone to Manor Church Chapel, Lancaster, PA.
A delicious meal by Nanalyn’s Full-Filling Feast, LLC, Columbia, PA
I liked how they served the filling (or stuffing, or dressing – whatever you call it in your part of the country).
Ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, and filling – DELICIOUS!
Many enjoyed bidding on the nice variety of items donated to the silent auction.
We were blessed by the harmony and songs of Ministers Of Music.
TFC’s President and CEO, Scott Weidner, shared the vision for reaching even more truck drivers with the Gospel.
Bunny O’Hare, Director of Chaplain Care, gave an update of current ministry activity.
Chaplain Jay told us about God’s work on the TFC Chapel at the Elkton, Maryland, TA Travel Plaza where he serves.
He and Nan closed the program by thanking those who helped them with the banquet and announcing the Silent Auction winners.
It was good to be here for the evening, as it was during the time we were spending our days in the hospital with Cerwin’s mother after she fell and broke her hip.
An current update on Mother: she is doing well in therapy at Pleasant View Retirement Community, and looking forward to going back to Landis Homes where she lives. We were there yesterday to look at rooms in personal and nursing care, as she is going to need assistance in her daily life. Prior to her fall she lived independently in her own apartment. At this point we don’t know if she will need personal care (minimal assistance) or nursing care (a lot of assistance).
That is a pretty banquet — even down to the men’s shirts! So glad that Mother High is doing well — hopefully she will not need a lot of assistance for more than a temporary stint, although you — and she — may feel more confident with the extra help!
These musicians always wear bright colored shirts. We have a meeting tomorrow to learn a progress report on Mother.
