Sunday Afternoon, September 21
As we exited the Pennsylvania Turnpike near Denver (PA) – on the way home from Biker Sunday – I realized that we were going to miss the afternoon reception for Kurt and Ali if we parked the chapel at the TFC Office near Marietta first.
I asked Cerwin if he would consider going by our house and parking the chapel in the field, so we could visit with my family – who were at the pavilion in the woods behind our house.
My sweet husband said he would go by the house and drop me off so I wouldn’t miss the reception, but he wanted to keep going and get the chapel parked at the shop.
When I arrived, Kurt and Ali were using a smart phone to show three of his aunts (Joan, Nancy, and Brenda) the area where they were moving to in New Brunswick, Canada.
By their Facebook – it sounds like tomorrow is their moving day – Friday, October 3.
Kurt is my nephew – the oldest son of my youngest brother Steve and his wife, Brenda.
Ali is a sweet addition to the Hershey family.
They were married in February, but didn’t want a reception until summer.
By summer they were also making plans to move to Canada, so it became a two-fold reception.
The beautiful flowers were arranged by my sister-in-law Dot. I expect my brother Dale helped her gather them. They are a good pair when it comes to raising flowers.
I was disappointed to miss the noon meal that Brenda and their girls Laura, Andi, and Kate prepared, but it was fun to see the menu.
A few guests left before I got there, but it was fun to see most of them.
Bella and Molly were amused that their cousin Madelyn was using a napkin to drip water on her head. 🙂
A bit later I noticed Maddy admiring mums.
Lucy looking cool in sunglasses.
This picture helped me identify the owner of the sunglasses that were left at the pavilion that day. 🙂
Brenda, her girls, and family are quite creative, making it fun to attend their events.
Kurt and Alix are artists so everyone was encouraged to paint a signature on this large canvas.
An old screen door from my childhood days in the farmhouse. I think they found it in the barn.
Can you read the word in this frame?
Brenda made if as a gift for each of their children last Christmas, but since Kurt and Ali were not yet married, she saved theirs for the reception.
They are photos that spell their last name – Hershey.
I took advantage of a photo op when I saw Kurt’s two grandmas talking to them.
Ali’s family live in Canada and Maine and were not able to attend.
Blessings upon blessings to you Ali and Kurt. I loved being at your reception.
It’s great you were able to go to at least some of the party. Kurt and Ali look so young, and so happy. My mother’s family came from New Brunsick, about an hour north of Fredericton. They lived in the country, near Tay Creek. There is still a cousin who lives in Fredericton. The family name was McCrea. We only visited there once, and that was in 1964.
They are looking forward to beginning their careers in Canada. He wants to teach.
How wonderful that you were able to be at home for at least part of the reception — and how nice of you to let them use your pavilion! It looks like a lovely party!
The pavilion is actually owned by my sister-in-law who lives next to it, but we siblings take care of it and use it. Cerwin and I keep it mowed and cleaned up, and I keep the calendar/schedule.
