The only gift Mother High wanted for her birthday was a family picnic.
I can understand that. There is no gift better than having our family in one place.
Rod, Bryan, Bryson, and Dorretta.
Bryson is Mother’s youngest great-grandchild. (That is no longer correct, as her 41st great-grandchild was born since her birthday party.)
The birthday lady, with great-grandsons Josh and Jordan, and her friend and my step-mother, Velma, looking at a scrapbook from our 2012 cruise to the Bahamas.
Kristen (center) spent a lot of time putting together three beautiful scrapbooks from our family’s cruise. She just finished them, so this was the first time we saw the books.
Jere and Kristen wanted a family picture with Mother.
There were about 40 people here for supper.
Everyone brought a hot and cold dish.
Mother’s birthday cake (carrot cake)
It was also Diane and Mark’s 30th wedding anniversary – which is why they were vacationing in our area. They are more likely to visit Pennsylvania these days – to see their first grandson, Anthony.
As we sang Happy Anniversary, Anthony seemed to think we were singing to him. 🙂
Getting a taste of icing from aunt Kristen.
Blowing out candles on their cake – chocolate with peanut butter icing.
Having fun with his Pappy Myers.
These four discovered that their hard candy had crystalized.
(It has been several weeks since they did this experiment during cousin’s week.)
We did a five-generation photo before the evening ended.
Cerwin (great-grandpa), Mother (great-great-grandma), Diane (grandma), Abby (mother) and Anthony.

I do love family get-togethers!
That’s a wonderfufl get-together — and the last two shots will remain real treasures, as well as the one of Jere and Kristen and family!. Happy birthday to Mother High, and congratulations to Diane and Mark!
Real treasures for sure!
Happy 97th birthday to your mother-in-law — what a nice family gathering to celebrate.
Thanks!
that icing finger is actually great aunt Kristen!
I’ll fix that! 🙂
