I’m not sure that I ever saw a cardinal who was so wet.
Maybe his wife wouldn’t let him in the house during the rain storm. 🙂
A few days later I looked outside and saw an unfamiliar bird. That means it is probably migrating.
How many of you know what it is at first glance?
As far as I can tell, it is an Eastern Phoebe.
I enjoy this time of year when migrating birds come through our area of Pennsylvania.
Too late now, but the simplest way to identify an Eastern Phoebe is the way it “wags” its tail — they “wag” their tails DOWN then up. It’s a very distinctive movement. Juanita
Yes, I read that – about their tail.
I saw my first eastern phoebe in Texas in January ~ always so exciting to see a first ~ 🙂
Yes, I always like seeing new birds.
That poor Mr. (or Mrs?.) cardinal! I’ve often wondered what birds do in the rain — I’d guess it isn’t to fly around in the rain!
I think it’s a Mr., but it is difficult to tell because he is so wet.
