Tuesday July 29
I enjoyed seeing the flower-covered hillsides as we traveled northwest to Mount Washburn.
We will remember Chittenden Road to Mount Washburn because…
…it was a very bumpy dirt road.
The beauty was worth every bump in the road.
By the time we reached Tower-Roosevelt, we had traveled every main road in Yellowstone, so we turned around and headed south to enjoy the scenery and wildlife on the way to our cabin.
At one point we could see a rain storm in the distance.
Bison were part of the scenery every time we went through Hayden Valley.
When we saw something like this on the road ahead, we knew that some kind of wildlife had been spotted.
This time it was a handsome 6 x 6 elk.
We were never quite ready to come to the end of a day in Yellowstone, but when it did come, we were glad to see the sign to our lodging.
On this night we were welcomed by a towel elephant on our bed, and shortly after we arrived, our cabin maid brought us chocolates and checked to make sure everything was okay.
I could get used to living like this. 🙂
When we stay at the same location for more than one night, I usually like to try different restaurants, but I could hardly wait to have supper in the lodge for a second night.
I guess that was a good thing, because it is the only restaurant in the area. 🙂
I loved this place.
This is the entrance area to the lodge ~ with the store to the left ~ registration to the right ~ and the restaurant behind the fire-place.
Shortly after taking this picture, I had my favorite meal of our ten-day trip ~ fresh trout.
your pics make me long to return to Yellowstone, even though it has only been little more than a year since we were there ~ sigh ~
I know what you mean. They make me want to return, even though it has only been a week. 🙂
What a wonderful tour of Yellowstone this has been. You saw wonderful animals, wonderful flowers, and magnificent vistas! Beautiful!
Thank you. Yes, we saw so much beauty.
Fresh trout sounds great. The lodge looks really nice. I wonder why God uses purple and yellow flowers so often?
The trout was so delicious.
Your pictures are giving Lowell & I traveling fever!Maybe next summer…………. Mt.Washburn should be renamed Mt.Washboard? 😀
