Saturday, July 5.
9:00 AM was our appointment with Chaplain Howard – to replace the non-working air conditioner with a working one – on the Indy Lighthouse Chapel.
It didn’t take the guys long to remove the old one and place it outside on the grass (left).
Cerwin and Howard getting the new one ready for installment.
I set up my office just beyond the steps.
It looked like a good place to relax and stay out of everyone’s way.
Laptop desk – check
Cell phone – check
Nook – check
Counted-cross stitch – check
Camera – check
Orange juice – check
I should be good for a few hours.
I drank the orange juice and did some counted-cross stitch, but then I looked up and began to wonder what was beyond the trucks.
It was a beautiful day and the draw to take my camera for a walk and find some beauty along the edge of the woods that surrounded part of the truck stop was stronger than my desire to relax next to the chapel.
Oh, yeah, there is going to be something here.
Enjoy the pretty things I found.
I think this was the tallest Queen Anne’s Lace I ever saw.
I had to look up to take this picture.
I am more familiar with this size.
I stopped here to look back on where I had been and pray a blessing on each driver on the lot.
Time to get back to the pretty things along the edge of the woods.
I would have missed all this if I was still sitting on the chair back at the chapel.
I had almost finished the woodsy part of my walk.
At this point I met a maintenance worker, thanked him for keeping the lot clean, and said, “Blessings to you.”
Then I went to the blacktop and walked around the back of the truck stop toward the restaurant entrance.
There were pretty roses at the entrance. Most were over the hill, but I found a few that were still in full bloom.
When I got back to the chapel Cerwin was working at making adjustments to the opening. This a/c was a bit smaller in size than the original.
It was about this time that Volunteer Chaplain Bob arrived. Was I ever in for a surprise and blessing as we got acquainted and talked for the next hour.
I’ll tell you about that tomorrow night.
There’s so much beauty everywhere if we just take a few minutes to look at it!
…and we miss so much of it.
