When visiting ~ I try to find a least one morning when I can take a relaxing walk and breathe in some Maine air ~ and pray.
I love to walk and notice what is going on around me.
I thought about the sand that lines both sides of the road ~ because we are not far from several ocean inlets. At home our roads are lined with rich, brown soil.
The train goes by their house fairly often ~ sometimes several times a day. At home I never see a train (or tracks) on my two-mile walk.
Nor do I see lobster traps in the countryside where I live.
About the time I saw this osprey nest ~ a delightful sight to my eyes ~ I looked up and saw the occupant fly away from a nearby tree.
The next series of pictures is a display of some of the beautiful things I saw on my walk ~ as I give you an idea of how I pray for myself ~ every day.
The prayer of a person living right with God is something powerful to be reckoned with. James 5:16 (The Message)
Lord, I want my prayers to be something powerful to be reckoned with.
I need your help today to stay focused on You.
Empower me as I begin another day of active duty in spiritual warfare.
Stay in my face – intrude in my life.
Keep me from stupid sins, from thinking I can take over Your work.
Because You are my shepherd – I have everything I need.
You WILL provide.
Love does not give up.
If I want to embrace life and see this day fill up with good…
I must cultivate good.
I must run after peace for all I am worth.
1 Peter 3:10-2 (The Message)
I love remembering that You are as close to me at the clothes I wear.
Romans 13:14 CEV
I love setting my heart to serve you at the beginning of each day.
I want to be a vessel of Your powerful Spirit
Part of the “bride of Christ”.
Remind me to give up my own desires
to not plan my own rescue strategy
or our children’s rescue strategy
or our grandchildren’s rescue strategy.
I want to lay down my desires and let them go.
I want to be a “Resurrection Person”
One who believes that hope rises from dead places
That impossible stones can be rolled away.
Amen.
I am going to copy that prayer, Doris, and keep it where I can see it everyday, if it is okay with you. It is most definitely a prayer I need to be praying myself.
I would be honored if you copied it. I keep adjusting it as my needs change. But it fits my needs at this moment.
Beautiful! And the phrase “I love remembering that You are as close to me as the clothes I wear” stood out to me this morning as I read it — oh what a promise!. Thank you for sharing.
Somehow that verse in that version is very precious to me.
The Message really speaks to me, too — such straight-to-the-heart-of-the-matter language that always nails it! Your prayer and your photos are beautiful together!
Thanks.
