We arrived at Burle Industries just before 8:00 a.m. and dusted road dirt off the fenders until Chaplains Jake and Bob arrived to help Cerwin set up the steps.
Jane (Chaplain’s Jake’s wife) and I had just finished setting up the interior of the chapel when our first visitor came inside.
Our second and third visitors were also clowns ~ our friend Mark and his son.
The chapel was nicely filled when Jane led us in singing What A Friend We Have In Jesus at 10:00 a.m.
Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer.
We even had our own security guard. She was excited to learn that TFC is ministering to truckers in Zambia because her parents are missionaries there.
Chaplain Jake challenged us to not quit in dark times, and shared a bit about his physical struggles during the past few years.
To close the fifteen-minute service, we prayed for the Make-A-Wish children, the convoy, and other requests ~ given by those in attendance.
It was a glorious, beautiful day ~ probably the nicest Make-A-Wish day we ever attended.
Drivers arrived most of the morning.
The second service ~ at 11:00 a.m. ~ was a repeat of the first one with a new audience.
More visitors ~ a group of drivers who are friends of Jake and Jane.
After the worship services I walked around to see what was going on in the large lot.
These guys were enjoying lunch and visiting under their trucks.
As I walked between the trucks, I looked for interesting things and talked to drivers I knew.
That’s a big shopping cart! I’m sure it got attention on the convoy.
We were in our truck by 1:15 p.m. and waited for the convoy to start.
This was my view out the front window ~ hundreds of people.
Some of our favorite people were waiting right across the driveway ~ Cerwin’s brother, Elvin (black shirt), his wife Pat, their daughter, Crystal, her husband Jakey, and their girls Peyton and Bailey.
A news helicopter circled overhead as we all waited for the first truck to leave the grounds.
More tomorrow night.
Looks like a very successful event!
It was a very large event.
