This was our first year to attend York/Gettysburg Make-A-Wish Convoy, and Battlefield Harley-Davidson was our landmark for turning into the parking lot.
Jeff ~ our contact person showed Cerwin where he wanted him to park.
The other end of the lot was already filling up with trucks.
I walked over to the Harley lot for a broader view of the trucks.
There was a cherry tree in full bloom next to the Harley building.
When I got back to the chapel, our friend Dave was polishing his race car.
He asked if I wanted to sit inside.
That was quite an experience. Race cars don’t give much space for movement. They are built to keep the driver safe and in place. 🙂
We were pleased that several came for the 15-minute devotional ~ as it was something new for this event. Next year we will go with eleven o’clock instead of ten o’clock, as there are many more people there one hour later.
Edwin came to tell us that he had been interviewed for an article in the Highway News and Good News many years ago. We knew the person who did the article. Bill is our TFC contact person for the York/Adams Chapter.
By 10:30 we began getting a regular stream of visitors.
The organizers gave us the best spot in the lot ~ right among all the other vendors, and along the street.
The view from the chapel steps.
The Harley lot was full most of the day as cycles came and went. We understand that this is a meeting place for bikers, and that they stop in just to see who is here and what is going on. Many walked over to the Make-A-Wish event.
By noon the place was full of people ~ eating lunch and waiting for the convoy to begin.
More tomorrow night.
You look great in that race car, Doris! Maybe you have a new calling in life. . . . 🙂 And you got to see Elmo! My favorite! 🙂 Seriously, though, it looks like it was a wonderful day, and I am glad to see more people becoming aware of the TFC ministry.
What fun to get to sit in a race car!
I’m surprised to read that many people never heard of TFC, and you are so close to them. We enjoyed the year we lived near Gettysburg, halfway between Biglerville and Heidlersburg. Yay for getting a good location. The cherry tree is beautiful!
I know. We are always surprised to hear that too – that they never heard of TFC. That’s why we keep going to truck shows and churches.
You look great in the race car — looks like you had a great day with great weather.
Thanks! 🙂 We did have a great day.
