We enjoyed our day at the Touch-a-Truck event in Newmanstown on Saturday, May 3.
It’s a time when the community comes together to learn about local vehicles and raise funds for the library.
After getting the chapel set up, I walked around the lot while Cerwin manned the chapel and enjoyed a cup of coffee.
I was a bit surprised to see a young boy wearing a TFC sweatshirt. He said he got it at our Truck Rally one summer.
His dad added. “We don’t like to miss the Truck Rally.
This mascot was entertaining the children and guiding them to the silent auction table.
The bus was popular with pre-school children.
This friendly state trooper enjoyed showing his cruiser to the children.
We heard air horns for most of the four hours – 10 am until 2 pm. 🙂
On days like this we have a PowerPoint of ministry highlights running in the chapel.
At times it was interesting to watch children trying to convince parents or grandparents to come on the chapel. Some adults gladly came along inside. Others allowed the children to visit us, but they would not enter the chapel, and there were those who quickly moved the children in a different direction.
This an especially interesting day for little boys and girls who like trucks and tractors.
If this little guy could have gotten it started, he would certainly have moved it. 🙂
As people prepared to take their vehicles home, I saw some check and double-check their switches and gears, because children had been moving and pushing everything on the dashboard.
One hour later ~ as we approached the TFC Office and Shop ~ I told Cerwin that it looks like we are going to get in rain.
We got our things out of the chapel and were in the car when it began to rain ~ and then pour.
Cerwin was glad that it was parked, because we were taking the chapel out again the next day. This way it didn’t get dirty from the road.
Trucks are such great fun, especially for little boys — that looks like a great collection! I hope the rain ended by daybreak, so you had a dry run in the morning!
The rain did end as you will see in my next entry.
