It has been an interesting week.
One of those times where people and springtime have been a special blessing to me.
Just seeing encouraging signs of spring has made me smile.
On Sunday our Sunday school class had a luncheon after church – in the fellowship hall.
I wish I had taken my camera, because the tables were beautifully decorated and the food was delicious. I thought I might be a bother to the people if I had a camera, plus taking it to church and leaving it in the car did not sound like something I wanted to do. For that reason I don’t have pictures.
I was blessed by the conversation – especially with the other three couples at our table. It was encouraging to talk about common concerns and joys with several in our own age group.
Afterwards we visited our friends Gary and Orpha ~ at their house.
He was recently injured by their snow blower and she had eye surgery. Our mutual friends Stan and Joyce were also there.
Friendships are one of life’s great joys.
Last night we went to a memorial service for a friend ~ almost two hours away ~ and traveled with Cerwin’s sister Velda and her husband Mel.
I treasure time we get to spend with family, especially when we have “one-on-one” time like traveling in a car. I enjoyed learning more about Velda’s passion for the elderly. She works as a care-giver for those who need care and companionship.
It was a special treasure to see our friend Marilyn’s family last night ~ at her memorial service.
Marilyn never married, but she touched many lives with her love of music and books.
As I listened, I was overwhelmed with…
…sadness for the many people in the world who do not have family to treasure or a church family who loves them ~ as Marilyn did.
…peace that Marilyn loved and served the Lord by encouraging others.
…praise as we sang several great hymns.
…joy that this family has touched my life.
It has been an interesting week, and those are wonderful signs of impending spring!
Thanks.
How appropriate that you posted signs of new life at the same time you celebrated the new life that Marilyn is now taking part in. I’m glad I got to read this.
Thanks!
