We stayed with Sam and Alice Rittenhouse overnight – after the Bucks-Montgomery Truck Show and Dinner Concert.
When we are there, I always enjoy taking a tour of his amazing orchard and garden.
Much of the garden and orchard fruit and vegetables are over for the summer, but this is the time of apples.
Apples of many varieties.
Many of his apples are turned into delicious cider.
I am always surprised to see strawberries on his hanging plants – in September.
The grape arbor is surrounded by netting to keep the birds away.
I liked the previous picture, but crawled under the netting to get this one.
Figs are something I don’t often see in orchards this far north, but these are potted and will be moved inside before the harsh winter weather arrives.
After the orchard I went to the garden – which was fairly over for this year, but I did find several peppers.
The flowers are at the other end of the garden.
Others are in the green house or nearer to the house.
There are even a few weeds. 🙂
Words that come to my mind as I walk in his garden – beautiful, refreshing, relaxing, delightful.
