South Africa – Day 2

Thursday, March 1

Our first African sunrise

The cabin was lit at 6:00 am to prepare us for breakfast. Cerwin chose the scrambled egg breakfast.

I chose the raspberry French toast

Approaching Johannesburg

We arrived in Johannesburg about 8:20 am – after a fourteen and a half hour flight – picked up our baggage – rechecked our baggage – went through security – and waited a few hours for our flight to Cape Town.

Soon ready to board

The sky was beautiful during our early afternoon flight.

Approaching Cape Town.

The flight from Johannesburg to Cape Town took just over two hours.

Finally! We get to see Jana. Her mom was the first to get a hug. David (behind Jana), a YWAM outreach leader brought her to the airport.

I hugged her too – but I was holding the camera. 🙂

Several of us went with David in the YWAM van. The others went to Muizenberg in an airport taxi. We learned that David is from Sydney, Australia.

After checking into our hotel, we walked to the YWAM headquarters in Muizenberg.

Along the way we met Wilma – one of Jana’s roommates and fellow student in the Children at Risk School. She is from the Netherlands.

After meeting some of her team, we walked back toward our hotel and got supper at a local restaurant.

I like their light shades.

It seemed surreal to be in Africa.
