Visiting Hershey Gardens was the beginning of my birthday week – a gift from Mark and Diane.
We chose to see the butterflies first.
I love butterfly houses – especially in winter.
It was so warm and humid that I had to keep defogging my camera.

This was a huge butterfly near the ceiling. The photo does not show its size.
A Madagascar Hissing Cockroach
That was good for my soul.
That WAS good for the soul — I love butterfly houses, but have to travel quite a way to see them. There’s a monarch butterfly way-stop near Santa Barbara, and a display north of San Diego — I’ll have to see about a day-trip when it stops raining.
I especially enjoy them when it is cold and wintry outside.
