Pavilion & Woods Cleanup

Monday, May 30

This is kind of the second day to our Hershey Family Spring Celebration.

DSC_3912Jeff and Cerwin discuss the plan for burning the big trash pile – with all the winter and spring trash. The biggest problem – it was wet from an evening rain the day before.

DSC_3914I usually do a lot of the weed eating, and I did work on the area around the pavilion so it was finished before people began arriving, then Ian took over for me, and my brother Dale did his usual section

DSC_3917There were lots of leaves.

DSC_3957Because the leaves were wet, Jeff came up with a plan to keep the fire going – and because the center was burning and the wet leaves were piled around the outside it soon looked like a volcano.

DSC_3958This was a perfect plan. Soon the outside leaves dried and by the end of the day most of the leaves were burned.

DSC_3968It’s nice to have this area ready for the summer.

The reason we all do this together is that the pavilion is a family project where any one of us can have a picnic or celebration.
