L.L. Bean is a yearly tradition with our first-of-the-year visit to Maine.

Before going to Freeport, Diane wanted to stop at this Wild Bird Supply store.

She had driven by here many times and thought it would be a store that I would enjoy.

I did!

It has more bird supplies than I have ever seen in one place.

I purchased some birdseed I needed.

Then we were off to Freeport.

Our first stop is usually the outlet store.

Because we like bargains.

I’m not a sneaker person but often wish I could find a pair that feels good and light on my feet.

I don’t like the heaviness of most sneakers.

As soon as I picked them up from the sale rack, I knew I wanted to try them on.

They are incredibly light – summer sneakers – and the only ones of this style on the entire rack.

And they were my size. 🙂

You bet I bought them.

Diane wanted me to experience this store.

Oh, what fun to taste the many varieties of olive oils and have the owner explain how olive oil is extracted.

Next we walked to the main store where I enjoy browsing.

My purchases: Wild Maine Blueberry Syrup, Maple Syrup, and a small pack of Cranberry Chocolate Candy.

I enjoy the household store, but we didn’t have a lot of time, so I chose to shop in the flagship store instead.

Shortly after leaving Freeport we came upon a postal worker who was stuck in a snow bank.

Elizabeth said, “Let’s turn around and see if we can help.”

Diane quickly found a turn-around spot.

The three young people in the van – Elizabeth, Hannah, and Hezekiah – got out and began pushing – and got her out of the snow.

It felt good to have taken time to help her.

The area abounded in snow banks as more than thirty inches of snow had fallen in the past two weeks.

Hezekiah needed some supplies for his next semester in college.

While he went in the store we enjoyed the sunset.

It was surely a delightful Saturday in Maine.
